Hopewell’s UCI Transition Program

Hopewell’s University Circle Transition Program provides to residents discharged from the farm a highly effective apartment-based program to support their transition to more independent living in the community.

University Circle, on the east side of Cleveland, is a world-class center of innovation in health care, education, and arts and culture. It offers a variety of social, cultural, entertainment, and occupational opportunities for residents, including collaboration with Circle institutions in the musical and visual arts, mental health, health care, education, gardening, and urban forestry.

Hopewell Testimonials

Hopewell is a therapeutic community for people suffering from mental illness. Set on a working farm with barns, animals, fields, pastures, meadows, and a deep and rich forest. We help our residents through the healing power of nature; through meaningful work on the farm and elsewhere; through our therapeutic commiunity and folks supporting one another; and through all kinds of clinical engagement with our residents.

All of these tools are used to help our residents thrive and become capable of living the most independent life outside of Hopewell they can.

Summer 2021: Sharing His Hopewell Experience

After experiencing an episode of psychosis, Jonathan arrived at Hopewell in 2017. For many of his previous treatments, he struggled to find the right psychiatric medication. During his ten-month stay at Hopewell, he found solace in the community and being able to “get better with his peers.” Thankfully, Dr. Martha Schinagle, a Hopewell psychiatrist, was also able to help him find a medication regimen that was low on side effects and high on symptom reduction.
