Creative Minds

Our Hopewell team, coordinated by Garden and Creative Art Program Facilitator, Cindy Wagner, is hard at work making wonderfully, unique items in preparation for our third annual Farm and Craft Market Holiday Open House.

Everyone is enjoying this time of year and looking forward to showing off their one of a kind creation.

The doors are open from 9:00am – 5:00pm Friday and Saturday November 29th and 30th so we hope you can join us!

Hopewell is featured in major mental health magazine

The Fall issue of SZ Magazine, a division of Magpie Media Inc. has highlighted twelve residential treatment centers in an ad for ARTA which lists mental health communities of hope and healing.

Hopewell is lucky enough to be among them. SZ Magazine is published four times a year and their mission is “dedicated to bringing hope, dignity and support by providing inspiration and information about mental health issues.”

Fun fall days at Hopewell

Hopewell’s Horsemanship Group, facilitated by our Nurse Manager Cheryl Meister, led the residents on a fun-filled hayride throughout our “Clara T. Rankin Nature Preserve”. The wagon was led by two of Hopewell’s stealthy and beautiful Belgian Mares, Bess and Belle. With our Farm Manager Norm taking the reins, the group enjoyed the gorgeous, yet sometimes bumpy, winding trails, as well as the wondrous sights and sounds of nature. While chilly, no one seemed to mind as they huddled together to keep warm.

This was not just any fall hayride; it was the start of Hopewell’s annual Halloween party, costumes and all!

Fall 2013 – Horses Help Us Heal

This is a story about the natural power of animals to impact healing, and how a very special horse changed the life of a young woman in pain.

Adrienne came to Hopewell at age 19 with a diagnosis of depression. Her illness caused her to hear voices that told her she was worthless, that no one wanted her around them, and that it would be better if she would just die. Adrienne had been cutting her arms (superficially) for three years prior to coming to Hopewell.

Summer 2013 – Transition to Independence

Each year during Hopewell’s Summer Solstice benefit, generous guests “raise their paddles” to support our mission to help people with serious mental illness find hope and healing. This year’s Fund-a-Need will support a new family home for recently graduated residents.

Joel Budzar, our guest speaker at last year’s Summer Solstice, is a proud graduate of the Hopewell program who is now an instrumental member of the team renovating the new family home.
